Her Business Conference Blooms

The National Bloom Her Business Conference 2007 was held in Auckland at the Crowne Plaza on June 20 - 21. Titled ‘Bloom’ the conference saw a stella array of guest speakers lead the 150 strong delegation forward in their business visions.

As the owner and director of Stretton Publishing Company (publishers of Her Magazine), Annah Stretton deliberately built the conference around real success stories from real business people. “Credibilty is best earned and all our speakers had walked the walk. I also wanted to balance inspirational speakers with a good deal of ‘how to’ presentations. Two days of motivation is great but businesses grow from implementing positive change not just talking about it. I was very pleased with the balance we achieved,” explains Annah.

Those attending the two day event found it difficult to identify one single highlight, as so many of the speakers presented at such an amazing level.

Peggy Bourne’s personal journey was received with huge admiration and passion. Her love for Possum and her recent ‘self discovery’ reminded us all of our inner strength.

Suzanne Lynch was another speaker who really connected with the attendees, receiving a standing ovation at the end of her presentation which culminated in a stirring rendition of the theme song from the movie Titanic.

Those who attended the conference to recharge their business batteries were thrilled with the session’s lead by David Johnson and Marnie Adams. Both of these speakers had everyone enthralled and fizzing with their high energy and high impact messages.

The ‘How to’ speakers reinforced key business frameworks that we all need to reference daily. With accountancy and investment guidance from Carol Campbell and Carmel Fisher, and marketing and branding gems from Amanda Stevens and Brian Richards, everyone left with great guidelines to manage and grow their businesses to new and exciting levels.

No conference is complete without a strong element of networking happening and Annah reports that once again those that attended the conference demonstrated that women in business keep growing in their confidence to seek help and offer assistance, “The networking sessions just went off! Everyone grabbed the chance to celebrate their achievements, it was great!” said Annah.

Having Prime Minister Helen Clark close the conference reflected not only the calibre of the speakers but the openness they all expressed. Leaving behind her ‘formal’ role, Helen presented to the group in a relaxed and personal manner. Her messages reflected that of all the speakers, urging women to continue pushing boundaries and supporting not only each other but our country’s exciting future.
