Bloom 2008 took off from where it left off in 2007, with Helen Clark continuing on from the closing speech of 2007 with her opening address of 2008.
The Prime Minister’s endorsement of the conference paid due respect to not only the calibre of speakers presenting over the two day programme but also to the new levels of importance being bestowed on the role women are increasingly commanding at all levels of business.
Day One presented a strong reminder to everyone attending that no amount of knowledge and preparation can work in isolation and that sheer guts and determination will also be needed if success is going to be achieved.
While Brian Richards of Brian R Richards Ltd, a Brand Strategist, set the scene fantastically with a crystallisation of his branding know how, Rodney Wayne drove home different theories with a powerful dose of realism.
Rodney’s open account of his ‘Australian lesson’ proved without a doubt that failure is only a stepping stone to success.
After lunch the panel’s question and answer session, with Ms Kenny, Walker and Lawson proved, very popular. Having three excellent practitioners available to answer key business questions provided excellent insight into a wide range of business issues.
Jackie Clarke and the Darlings then provided the perfect ending for an intense day of inspiration and learning, with Jackie’s comic genius peppering her recount of surviving life as a professional musician in New Zealand … “Great sounds guys!”
The pace picked up noticeably on Day Two. After a solid morning of ‘How To’s’ from Ken Stevens, Corinne Blumsky and Brigit Blair, the focus turned to the most important asset of any business - yourself.
Susana Tuya made sure we all felt and looked our best. Sarah Ulmer demonstrated to a teary eyed audience that there can only be one winner and then Genevieve Westcott made sure everyone knew how to tell the world just how great they were!
To reward the great focus and commitment to setting and achieving new goals we were all rewarded with an extraordinary performance from New Zealand’s best story teller - Rodney Hide. His recount of his Dancing with the Stars journey took all who listened through a roller coaster of emotions, but still left us with the perfect message to take away from the conference - “Be the best you can be, but make sure you make a difference to those around you along the way!”
Our thanks to our presenters and our Bloom 2008 sponsors.
See you all next year at Bloom 2009
Feedback from Bloom 2008
Thank you all for the opportunity last night and considering Pitchix for the new business award, I certainly have another goal for next year! I really enjoyed the evening and made some great new friends. Without businesses like yourself, bringing people together, really makes a big difference knowing that there are others out there going through the same “start up” experiences. I am so very grateful for the opportunity. Please keep up the great work you are doing for women in business.
Kind regards
Andrea Loughlin
As a Her Business Network coordinator Bloom inspires me to achieve at a high level and I therefore encourage my team to do the same.
Thanks again,
Cheyenne
I loved Annah’s interview – it was a different approach and a welcome relief from the speaker approach – more please!
Tony is an excellent MC – isn’t he? I say we cross-dress him for next year’s event!
Lovely food, lovely venue, lovely staff on hand. It was all win-win. Thank you, too, for the very generous goody bags. I’ve already passed on the Her Magazines to clients along with a glowing report about what a genius you are! And they were very gratefully received.
Genevieve Westcott
The Bloom Conference was truly an amazing experience and an absolute credit to both you and Tony for organising it. You know I filled 10 pages of my little black book over the two days with bits of information I want to hold close and take with me into the future...
Jodie Ahern
Congratulations on another great event. The people that I spoke to at the event last night were having a great time and really enjoyed the conference.
Carol Campbell
Monday find out about Bloom and book flights, Tuesday arrive Auckland, Wednesday and Thursday attend conference. Impulsive defiantly, worthwhile absolutely! Bloom gave me the confidence to go from thinking I could make Romantic Gestures succeed to knowing I can. Thank you and see you next year.

You should be applauded for the Annual Business Awards - this is a celebration of Success of Woman in Business - all women in Business should be encouraged to enter these awards. A huge Thank You to the Sponsors of these Awards.

I came away from the conference refreshed, relaxed (I loved the massages) with some strong messages that I intend to hold onto.
I enjoyed the mix of speakers. I liked the fun with the serious. The factual with the inspirational.
You have amazing vision, drive, passion and attention to detail.
Thank you, very much for organizing it.
Jenny Barkle
I really enjoyed the opportunity to participate and thought you guys did an excellent job.

I applaud you on all your fine work and have been so impressed (and amazed!) by all that you’ve achieved, while still maintaining a down to Earth and available approach to all who you lead and inspire.

Many thanks for the extremely prompt evaluation of events on last weeks conference. It was my second conference and went wondering whether it was a sort of one off. I am very glad I went back as I came home every bit as motivated and excited about being in business as last year so good on you all those that had an input in the organization of the two days. I was as last year stimulated to attend by the most interesting and diverse array of speakers and am happy to say was not disappointed. A great two days money well spent.
Many thanks to you all
Philippa Wright
What an incredible celebration for women in business! Exceptional speakers, passionate delegates, engaging networking and stimulating ‘thought leadership’ with like-minded entrepreneurial spirits. Value for money ‘Bloom’ is the ‘must attend’ event . See you @ ‘Bloom’ 2009.
Deb Bell
I thought the conference was a brilliant experience once again. Every speaker taught us something different, and each was inspiring. As I said to the participants, I look on the conference as a ‘battery-recharge’ and it certainly fulfilled my expectations.
Kay Gregory
Thanks for a wonderful two days at Bloom! Loved every minute of it. The variety of speakers and subjects was incredible.
I met a lot of new people and caught up with some that I already new and had not been in touch with for years.
