Meet Annah Stretton
Congratulations Annah, on the recognition of your contribution to so many aspects of
New Zealand life. (Helen Clark Dec 07)
The Publisher
Annah is the owner and editor of the Her Magazine. This monthly publication, previously titled Her Business, continues to gain ground in the very competitive women’s interest section, currently ranking13th in the top 97.
She remains determined to make Her the most intelligent read for the women of Australasia.
Annah also owns and edits pink magazine, a bi-annual publication supporting breast cancer initiatives. Who’s Who, an annual publication focusing on New Zealand’s most successful women entrepreneurs, is also in her growing stable of titles.
The Academic
Annah holds an Honorary Master of Arts, awarded to her by the Waikato Institute of Technology, for her contributions to Fashion.
Her connection to WINTEC is further strengthened this year with Annah acting as Designer in Residence. In this role she will tutor two papers this year.
The Leader
Working now with over 130 women, Annah Stretton takes on huge levels of responsibility daily.
Not unaccustomed to making important decisions that could affect her huge work force, she continues to thrive on every challenge placed before her as her business enters yet another phase of growth, including international recognition and exporting to 150 accounts throughout the world.
Her leadership style is easily categorised as decisive and direct, yet she embraces her team with great pride and works hard to inspire the women around her to be confident, challenged and independent.
The Designer
Based in the Waikato, Annah Stretton has emerged from a background of wholesaling mainstream garments to become a leading force in New Zealand-based fashion design. With substantial growth since 2005 Fashion week, Annah now exports to 150 clients throughout Australia, the UK, Ireland and Europe. With a platform of 30 of her own sites in New Zealand, this well-established vertical retailer has this new export focus well under control.
Family & Community Member
Amongst every busy day, two people remain the center of Annah’s focus; Sam, her 19-year-old daughter, and Edward, her 17-year-old son. Both children are regularly involved in Annah’s work activities.
Want a job done? Give it to a busy person! An adage easily applied to Annah, with her philanthropic interests extending way beyond the confines of the rag trade. Current involvements include: Trustee of the ‘Waikato Breast Cancer Trust’ and the ‘True Colours Charitable Trust’, both Waikato-based charities; mentoring fledgling businesses; working actively as a Fashion Industry NZ Board chairperson and speaking almost weekly to women’s and business groups throughout the country.
To be the best we can, we appreciate your feedback
